06/04/03 Aston Green Vs Alfred's Head Res Rabsons Rec
Result Aston Green 2 - 4 Alfred's Head Res Alfred's kicked off and made their presence known early with some good football to feet, and Aston had to defend well as the pressure was constant. Alfeds scored first when Scott Richardson shielded the ball to let it go off for a goal kick and "kanu" was all over Scott's back and somehow managed to intercept the ball and score from a tight angle. Aston could have equalised when Damien Foote pressured the left back and won the ball back his through ball to Kris foote down the flank allowed Kris to cross the ball in for Dion Day to strike over the bar from all of 5 yards. Alfred's increased their lead before the break and Aston suffered a setback when Kevin Pocock sprained his ankle and had to be substituted. Ralf Dussold came on in his place and slotted into midfield for the remaining 3 minutes of play. Half time saw Ralf switch to right back and Sadler move into central midfield. Aston started the half well and managed to play some good football in Alfred's half which resulted in Damien Foote bagging yet another goal. Justin Fox played Damien in with a nice ball over the top of the defence, Damien ran on to chip the ball past the advancing keeper. When Aston thought they could get something from this game another setback happens, Ralf Dussold limped off injured and Aston were reduced to 10 men after 15 minutes of play. Alfreds made use of the extra man and scored another 2 goals before Aston hit back with Chris Walsh playing a defence splitting ball to Kris Foote who made no mistake as he fired home from just inside the box. Aston deserved some credit for this game although the scoreline indicated a drubbing.
