06/10/02 Aston Green Vs Whitley Utd Palmer Park
Result Aston Green 0 - 2 Whitley utd Aston Green threatened from the off against Utd but Green failed to find the net with half chances from Anthony Pocock and Justin Fox. It was Whitley who finally broke the deadlock when they pounced on a misjudged header from Damien Foote which left the defense as mere spectators. The second half saw Kris Foote replace James Sadler at Left wing back and Green pushing forward in search of goals. Chris Walsh was brought off early into the second half with a suspect hamstring injury and Jasper Oijen came on in his place. Luck was against Green when Kevin Pococks shot from the edge of the box ricochet off the top of the bar twice before the keeper managed to scramble it away. Anthony Pocock also went near when Damien Foote slotted a defence slitting through ball into the path of the advancing Pocock who just fired wide. Whitley Utd then added to their lead with a strike inside the box which green failed to clear. Dave Cunningham then made way for Iain Clements to partner Justin Fox upfront with Anthony Pocock moving to midfield. Green started to battle back and Damien Foote came close to getting his first for the club when his right foot drive inside the box was nicely saved by the Whitley keeper. Aston Green were denied a penalty when the advancing keeper clattered Kevin Pocock just inside the box. A free kick was awarded and Kevin was cautioned for dissent. Aston Green played the last ten minutes with ten men after Kevin Pocock was brought down and injured. A deserved win for whitley and Green needing to work on their attitude if they are to become a success. Subs Used
